I Don’t Have A Heart Of Stone

My heart can never grow cold…

I believe God created me to be a highly sensitive person.
I am learning to come to terms with it as I get older.
I used to see it as a flaw, because society taught me that it is indeed a flaw.
But I have never outgrown it. It turns out I never will.
And forever it will be a part of me.

I can teach myself to be aloof, however…
To set boundaries.
To distance myself from the things that overwhelm me –
The only way I can stay sane or preserve that little amount of sanity still left within me.

So when you feel like I am drifting away,
It’s not that I hate you or have forgotten about you.

I only need time to breathe…

  1. I share that same sensitivity with you, Irene, and have had to learn over the years to not let it overwhelm me in certain circumstances. And, you're so right about it never going away; it will take on different forms, however, as we mature.
Beautiful post and photos as always!
    Blessings!

  2. It's crazy how we learn to live with the way we are as we get older. I adore your sensitivity and it's in everything that you write. Take all the time you need for space and to breathe.

  4. hehehe :D it reminds me when I put some lyrics on my post that said my heart starts to feel like stone. I agree with you. Sometimes we just need to take a break and breathe. Dosn't mean that it's because we suddenly back off from our normal live and hate people around us but we just need some alone time

  7. Everyone needs time to breathe. And being a sensitive person is not a bad thing. In this day-and-age it's rare and good. :)

  16. I love the introspection with which you write. You're right - society does have a bad habit of telling us what "flaws" we have but we must always come to love ourself and accept ourfself.

  17. I understand this Irene. Time to breath, you are defining it so well.
Take this time you need dear. And don't worry, we are many to know how it feels.
